Christmas Blessing
Christmas Blessing
This year, Advent began on Sunday, 3 December. In our shops Advent is marked by the sale of brightly coloured calendars that focus on each day leading up to Christmas, and which often include a treat to be opened each day. If we didn’t know its origins, we could easily be caught up in the season of commercial frenzy and preparations for gift giving and then miss its true significance. While Advent occurs at the end of the year, it does in fact mark the beginning of the Church’s liturgical year.
It is a time in which to commemorate the birth of Christ and to also anticipate his return. In Mark’s Gospel Jesus said to his disciples: 'Be on your guard, stay awake, because you never know when the time will come.' (Mark 13:33) In many ways, Jesus is encouraging us to also be alert to the many possibilities and opportunities to welcome Him into our lives; to live justly and with love for all.
This year our College theme – “With a Grateful Heart” invited us to see the world through a lens where every moment, even when we faced challenges, was an opportunity for living gratefully. When we live with a grateful heart, we see our life and our world in a way that values each moment as precious, full of promise and hope. Let us continue to reflect on this theme in the times ahead.

Happy Christmas
Finally, I would like to wish all staff, students and their families a very Happy Christmas. Together with your friends and extended family, may you enjoy the peace and hope that the birth of Jesus brings to all people. I look forward to seeing you all again in 2024.
With every blessing for a safe and restful summer break.
